After years of preparation, CHWD has now fully implemented metered water billing. Starting January 1, 2008, CHWD has changed all of its residential customers to metered billing. By the middle of March 2008, all residential customers will have received their first metered water bill. Subsequent bills will be sent bi-monthly (every two months). The bills will include a bi-monthly service charge plus a charge based on the amount of water used during the billing period.

Scroll over the various areas on the sample Water Statement below to learn more about your bill.

1 This is your Account Number that is assigned to your Service Address. If you have a question about your Water Statement, please have your Account Number ready when you call.

2 Your Statement Number is for CHWD internal purposes only. You do not need this number if you call CHWD with any questions.

3 The Bill Date is the date your bill was generated.

4 The Due Date is the date your payment is due in the CHWD office. Payments received after this date are considered late and will incur a 10% penalty fee. Payments postmarked by your due date are not considered on time. Click here to view your payment options.

5 The Service Address is the address that received the water service.

6 The Service Route is the specific cycle for reading your water meter and creating your bill.

7 This Special Message area will alert you to the billing period for your bill and any important notices from CHWD. Be sure to look in the message area for important information each time you receive your bill.

8 The Service Type describes if your water service is for Domestic Residential or Commercial use and shows the meter size.

9 The Read Date is the date your water meter was read for the particular Water Statement.

10 The Meter Number is a unique number assigned to your water meter by the meter manufacturer.

11 The Current Read is the actual reading from your water meter that was recorded by the meter reader and used to calculate the water consumption charge for your water statement. Similar to the odometer on a car, it represents the cumulative number of units of water that have passed through your meter.

One unit of water is equal to one hundred cubic feet (1 CCF) of water or about 748 gallons of water.

12 The Previous Read is the actual reading from your water meter that was recorded by the meter reader on the Read Date for your prior Water Statement. The Previous Read was the Current Read on your prior Water Statement.

One unit of water is equal to one hundred cubic feet (1 CCF) of water or about 748 gallons of water.

View the Rates web page to learn more about how your bill was calculated.

13 The Units section of the Water Statement is the number of units of water you consumed during the Billing Period, calculated by subtracting the Previous Read from the Current Read.

One unit of water is equal to one hundred cubic feet (1 CCF) of water or about 748 gallons of water.

View the Rates web page to learn more about how your bill was calculated.

14 The Annual Water Consumption Comparison chart shows readings from your water meter for the past six months. The chart compares your water consumption in units used in a given month this year, versus the same month last year. It also shows your average bill for bi-monthly water meter charges.

15 The Account Activity section presents a summary of recent charges, payments, credits, adjustments and current charges on your account since your last statement. View the Rates web page to learn more about how your bill was calculated.

16 The Total Due includes all current and past due charges. This total is due by the Due Date shown on your statement to avoid incurring a 10% late payment penalty fee.

17 The Payment Coupon is the portion of your water statement that you detach and return along with your payment. Click here to view your payment options.
