No Change in Water Rates for 2012!
The CHWD Board of Directors has adopted budgets and water rates for 2012. Water rates will remain at their current levels for the coming year. Although costs of operating the District and maintaining and replacing portions of the water system has risen in 2012, Directors agreed that 2012 was a year where CHWD could draw upon its financial reserves and offer its customers some relief from rising prices.
With water rates staying at their current level for 2012, the average bi-monthly cost of water service for the typical CHWD residential customer will remain at $77.36 ($38.36 monthly). This places CHWD's water rates more than 15 percent below the average of water agencies in the Sacramento region in CHWD's most recent survey of water rates for 21 water agencies in the region. District Financial Audit
An independent audit of the District's financial records and practices is performed annually in compliance with CHWD Policy No. 6010. The audit is performed by an independent certified public accounting firm that reports directly to the District's Board of Directors. We are pleased that the annual financial audit shows that the District's financial records are in good shape, and its accounting practices conform with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. In some years, the Independent Auditor also prepares a Management Letter that provides comments on District internal controls and operations, with suggestions regarding matters identified as opportunities for strengthening internal controls and operating efficiency.
