Water Rates Increasing for 2013
Following a Public Hearing on November 13, 2012, the Board of Directors adopted water rates for 2013 that include an increase of 3 percent in the bi-monthly service charge and the cost per unit of water consumed by customers. This increase goes into effect on January 1, 2013. The average monthly increase in cost for a typical single-family residential customer is estimated to be $1.15, based on an average family's water consumption. Rates for other types of customers, such as institutional and commercial customers, will increase by the same propotional amount of 3 percent above 2012 water rates.
Even with the 2013 rate increase, CHWD water rates remain well below the average of water agencies in the Sacramento region. We are pleased that we can continue to offer great service and high-quality water to our customers at a reasonable cost.

An independent audit of the District's financial records and practices is performed annually in compliance with CHWD Policy No. 6010. The audit is performed by an independent certified public accounting firm that reports directly to the District's Board of Directors. We are pleased that the annual financial audit shows that the District's financial records are in good shape, and its accounting practices conform with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. In some years, the Independent Auditor also prepares a Management Letter that provides comments on District internal controls and operations, with suggestions regarding matters identified as opportunities for strengthening internal controls and operating efficiency.
