Poster Contest

CHWD conducts an annual poster contest where students in grades 4-6 can submit a drawing illustrating how they have fun conserving water. A panel of judges from other public and community organizations, such as the Citrus Heights Police Department, City of Citrus Heights, and Sunrise Parks and Recreation, review all of the drawing submissions and select the winners.

Winners are announced at a CHWD Board of Directors meeting, where they are presented with their artwork in a special frame and receive a CHWD t-shirt. The first place winner also receives a $100 U.S. savings bond, the two runner-ups receive $50 U.S. savings bonds and the teachers of the three winners each receive $100 for their classroom.

The winning drawings, along with nine others selected by three local area water agencies, are included in CHWD's annual calendar for the following year.

CHWD also offers one-hour interactive classroom presentations for grades K-8 that focus on the water cycle, water conservation and where our water comes from. For more information, please visit the School Programs page.
