Projects
Capital improvement projects help CHWD maintain its infrastructure and keep it up to date, increase needed capacity and continue to provide great service to its customers. One of these projects is the upcoming Auburn Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project.
The project, which spans about six-tenths of a mile, will replace the 60-year-old section of eight-inch steel pipeline with a new 12-inch water main. Construction will take place along the eastern edge of the center turn lane along Auburn Boulevard, from Cedar Drive to Linden Avenue. Most construction activity will occur in the center turn lane and the westerly northbound lane.
The project will also include upgrades to four existing fire hydrants and the installation of six new ones. Traffic lanes will remain open closest to the curb, except during installation of water service laterals and the new fire hydrants.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in March 2008 – weather permitting – and will take approximately four months to complete.
While construction activity may affect the commute on Auburn Boulevard during peak hours, CHWD and its contractors will work diligently to minimize any disruptions to traffic flow.
